Monoprinting

Next I experimented with monoprinting. I printed several random letters, creating lines and marks using a variety of materials (pen pencil, and a block of wood). I really wanted to capture the blotchy texture found on the pavements so rather than trying to make each one perfectly neat and legible I tried applying different amounts of ink and pressure to the paper, seeing what worked best to imitate the texture of the pavement. In order to develop this I wanted to create several individual "slabs" which spelled out a word or phrase, which I would then place outside onto the pavement to blend in with the surroundings.
